Our Story
2021: The One Where They Moved to LA
Mike (from Boston), Katie (from Seattle) each packed up for LA on a dream and one carload of their belongings. Both ready to live out the pandemic somewhere warmer and enjoyable for outdoor social distancing.November 2022: The One with the Hinge Incident
Their first “meet cute” was on Hinge – the singles version of a gym membership – everyone told they have to try it, and most people quietly resent it. Mike opened up the conversation acknowledging Katie’s new surf crew, the very crew he had also been sharing waves with. Turns out, the LA circles they had been building overlapped, and they’d never crossed paths. The conversation fizzled (this one on Katie), but fate had other plans.
March 2023: The One Where Nobody Got A Number
Mike was settling into his role as the fifth wheel on a friends’ bowling night when Katie, invited that afternoon by Max and Maggie, walked in to fill the sixth spot. It was love at first strike – well, nearly. The night ended and no numbers were exchanged. Rookie mistake by Mike. 
Three Days Later: The One At A Coffee Shop
As it turns out, Mike and Katie lived just a few blocks apart, and found themselves at the same local coffee shop for a day of work. Mike strolled in, ready for the corporate grind, and there she was. Third times the charm: he got her number, asked her out, and fate won that day. 
August 2023: The One Where They Went To Greece
Mike invited Katie to be his plus-one at a wedding in Greece. Traveling internationally with someone they had only known a few months was out of character for them both. At the same beach spot in LA where they’d later got engaged Mike asked “Is it okay If, in Greece, I can call you my girlfriend?” Chivalry lives on, and so did the relationship. Nov 2025: The One Where They Moved In Together
Although they lived 9 streets apart in Santa Monica, the walking became too much. Bringing the boys (Jack & Rusty) together made space a top priority, and we struck gold with our house in Mid-City. 
Aug 2026: The One Where They Got Engaged
Two people from two coasts, a very well-connected friend group, and three chances to get it right. Once it did, we never looked back.
